The RØDECaster series are powerful audio production consoles designed for podcasters, streamers, and content creators. Each channel fader includes two important controls: the Listen/Solo button and the Mute button.
Understanding how these functions work will help you manage audio confidently during recordings and live sessions.
Listen/Solo
Pressing the Listen/Solo button isolates that channel so you can monitor it independently through Headphone Output 1. This allows the host or producer to check a microphone, adjust levels, or troubleshoot issues without affecting what other participants hear.
Only the person monitoring Headphone Output 1 will hear the soloed channel, ensuring the session continues uninterrupted.

Mute
The Mute button silences a channel, preventing its audio from being sent to the main mix, headphones, and outputs. This is useful for quickly stopping unwanted noise or temporarily disabling a microphone without adjusting the fader or disconnecting equipment.
When recording in multitrack mode (apart from the full stereo mix), the audio from muted channels are still recorded by default. However, if Post-Fader mode is enabled, muting a channel will also mute it in the multitrack recording, giving you greater control over the captured tracks.
