RØDE Wireless kits are ideal for recording audio from one or two people into a single camera or audio capture device. For scenarios such as podcasting or panel discussions where you need audio from three or four people, this can be achieved by combining multiple Wireless kits with the correct cabling.
This guide explains how to use two Wireless GO II kits together with an SC11 TRS splitter cable to record audio from four transmitters into a single recording device.
What you’ll need
- Two Wireless GO II kits (or compatible Wireless kits)
- One SC11 TRS splitter cable (or equivalent TRS Y-splitter that combines two mono outputs into one stereo input)
How to connect two Wireless GO II kits
-
Set both receivers to Merge mode
- On each Wireless GO II receiver, set the output mode to Merge.
- This ensures each receiver outputs a summed mono signal.
- For more information on Merge and Split modes, see this article .
-
Match gain levels
- Set the same output gain on both receivers.
- This helps maintain consistent audio levels across all transmitters.
-
Connect the receivers to the splitter
- Connect the red and black short ends of the SC11 cable to each Wireless GO II receiver.
-
Connect the splitter to your recording device
- Connect the longer black end of the SC11 cable to the 3.5 mm input on your camera or audio capture device.
Pro tip: If your camera or recorder only has XLR inputs, use a VXLR Pro adapter for correct level matching and power handling.
How the audio is recorded
Once connected, your camera or audio capture device will receive a stereo signal:
- Two transmitters will be recorded on the left channel
- Two transmitters will be recorded on the right channel
This allows you to record audio from four people using a single input.
Pro tip: If you need individual audio tracks for each transmitter, enable Always or Backup onboard recording on each transmitter. You can then export separate recordings from RØDE Central (Wireless GO II and Wireless PRO only).
