Connecting your RØDECaster to the internet is an essential step to unlock its full potential and access various online features. If you find yourself facing difficulties in connecting to your network, and a simple reboot of the device has not resolved the issue, don't worry!
There are several additional troubleshooting steps you can take to help establish a successful connection. Below, we will outline these steps to guide you through the process and ensure that you can enjoy all the functionalities your RØDECaster has to offer.
What networks work with my device?
- The RØDECaster Pro II & RØDECaster DUO are only compatible with WPA2 or WPA2-Personal network types.
- The RØDECaster Video is compatible with WPA2, WPA2-Personal and WPA3 network types.

Quick Test with a New WI-FI Password
While this is not a requirement, if your RØDECaster is unable to connect to your WI-FI network, we suggest updating your WI-FI password to include only alphanumeric characters.
Connect your RØDECaster unit using an Ethernet cable.
Also, make sure that there are no advanced firewalls or ISP settings on your router that might block your RØDECaster from connecting.
Try using a Mobile Hotspot.
You can set this up with no security, WPA2, or WPA2-personal and use an alphanumeric password, like "rode12345".
If you're looking to test a call for RØDE CallMe; you can visit our callme.rode.com site and attempt to dial into your RØDECaster unit. It might be a good idea to try this in a private browser first.
Firewall Settings
Finally, ensure that your wifi or internet firewall isn’t blocking TLS, DTLS, (S)RTP, (S)RTCP, STUN, or TURN traffic. Here’s how you can check:
- Review your firewall rules to confirm that the outbound/inbound ports mentioned above are not blocked.
- If you can, keep an eye on firewall logs while you try to connect; look for any denied or dropped traffic on the relevant ports.
