In this article, we will guide you through the process of setting up timecode by jam syncing and capturing audio using the Wireless PRO system. This method is essential for ensuring that your audio and video recordings are perfectly synchronised, which is crucial in professional filmmaking and video production.
To begin with, you have the option to use Timecode mode 1, which allows you to receive the Timecode signal on the right side while merging all audio on the left side. However, for a more reliable setup, I highly recommend using Timecode mode 5 for jam syncing.
This approach not only aligns your camera with the embedded timecode but also serves as a backup for your audio. Below, I will outline the steps you need to follow to achieve this successfully.
First, you need to connect the Wireless PRO system to your camera. Begin by jam syncing the camera's timecode with the Wireless PRO. To do this, follow the specific instructions provided in the user manual or setup guide for your equipment.
Once you have completed this step, you should observe that the timecode displayed on your camera matches that of the Wireless PRO RX unit, indicating a successful sync.

After confirming that the timecode is synchronized, the next step is to disconnect the Wireless PRO RX unit from the Timecode port. Instead, you will connect it to the microphone input of your camera. At this point, you can choose to capture audio in either Split or Merge mode, depending on your preference and the requirements of your project.
- To select the appropriate audio mode, press and hold the left 'Gain' button and the right 'CH' button simultaneously for about 2 to 3 seconds.
- This action will allow you to access the available channel modes.
- Use the left 'Gain' button to cycle through the options, which include Merge, Split, Safety, and Timecode modes.
- Once you have made your selection, confirm it by pressing the right 'CH' button.
- You will see a confirmation indicator, represented by a tick mark, appear in the bottom right corner of the RX screen, confirming that your choice has been successfully set.
By following these steps, you'll successfully set up timecode using jam syncing and record audio from the Wireless PRO transmitters along with their built-in recordings.
