If you are the host of a podcast or producing/engineering a recording, you may have noticed that the solo/listen button only works for headphone output 1 on the RØDECaster Pro II and RØDECaster Duo. This design choice is intentional and serves a specific purpose in the recording workflow.
When you press the ‘Listen/Solo’ button on a fader, the selected channel will be solo’d, allowing you to isolate and monitor that particular audio input. However, this solo monitoring is exclusively routed to headphone output 1. The reason for this is to ensure that you, as the host or producer, can listen to a specific channel without disrupting the overall recording session for other participants.
By directing the solo output to headphone output 1, the RØDECaster Pro II and RØDECaster Duo provide a way for the producer or host to make critical listening decisions in real-time. This means they can focus on individual channels, adjust levels, and make necessary tweaks without other members of the session being affected by these changes.
We recommend that if you are the host or the person responsible for producing or engineering the recording, you should always plug your headphones into headphone output 1. This setup ensures that you have the ability to solo and monitor channels as needed, giving you greater control over the audio production process.
