If you encounter the issue of RØDE Central crashing on your computer, try the troubleshooting steps below for macOS and Windows.
macOS
- Ensure privacy permissions are enabled for RØDE Central:
- Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Files and Folders > RØDE Central, then enable Removable Volumes.

- Create a new user on your Mac, then download and test RØDE Central there. This helps confirm whether the issue is related to your user profile/preferences or the application itself.
Windows
- Run RØDE Central as Administrator and test again.
- If the problem persists, whitelist any RØDE app in your antivirus/Windows Security:
- Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
- Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings. Then under Exclusions, choose Add or remove exclusions.
- Select Add an exclusion > File, then select your RØDE app(s). (A folder exclusion applies to all subfolders.)
- Restart your computer, then reopen RØDE Central and test again.
Safe Mode (Windows)
- Start your computer in Safe Mode with Networking. This uses a basic set of files and drivers, which can help identify issues caused by software, settings, or drivers.
- Open Settings by pressing Windows logo key + I. (Or select Start > Settings.)
- Select System > Recovery.
- Under Recovery options, next to Advanced startup, select Restart now.
- After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart. (You may be asked to enter your BitLocker recovery key.)
- After restart, select 5 or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
- Download and install RØDE Central in Safe Mode and test again.
- Restart your device to exit Safe Mode and return to normal mode.
If the issue persists, or if your PC continues to boot into Safe Mode unintentionally, follow the steps below:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type msconfig and select OK.
- In the Boot tab, under Boot options, clear the Safe boot checkbox.
These steps should help troubleshoot and resolve RØDE Central crashing on both macOS and Windows.
