If you encounter the issue of RØDE Central crashing on your computer, we recommend the following troubleshooting steps for both Mac and Windows platforms:
MAC
-
Ensure that privacy permissions are enabled for the RØDE Central app:
- Navigate to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy (Tab) > Files and Folders (Left Column) > RØDE Central (enable ‘Removable Volumes’).
- Create a new user on your Mac and attempt to download and use RØDE Central there. This helps determine if the issue is related to computer preferences or the RØDE Central application itself.
WINDOWS
- Run RØDE Central as 'Administrator' to see if that resolves the crashing issue.
-
If the problem persists, consider whitelisting any RØDE App from your antivirus:
- Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
- Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, choose Add or Remove exclusions.
- Select Add an Exclusion, then select 'Files' and choose any RØDE apps. A folder exclusion will apply to all subfolders within the folder as well.
- Restart your computer and reopen RØDE Central to check for improvements.
Safe Mode (For Windows)
-
Start your computer in Safe Mode with Networking. This mode uses a basic set of files and drivers, helping identify issues caused by default settings or basic device drivers.
- From Settings, press Windows logo key + I to open Settings. If not, select the Start button, then Settings.
- Select System > Recovery.
- Under Recovery options, next to Advanced startup, select Restart now.
- After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart. You may be asked to enter your BitLocker recovery key.
- After restart, select 5 or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
- Download and install RØDE Central in Safe Mode and check for functionality.
- Restart your device to exit Safe Mode back into normal mode.
If the issue persists or if your machine continues to boot into Safe Mode unintentionally, follow these additional steps:
- Press the Windows key (winkey) + R.
- Type "msconfig" in the Open box and select OK.
- In the Boot tab, under Boot options, clear the Safe boot checkbox.
These steps should help troubleshoot and resolve the crashing issue with RØDE Central on both Mac and Windows platforms.
