4K Capture Mode is an additional operating mode that transforms the RØDECaster Video Series from a Full HD live production switcher into a dedicated UHD capture card and distribution system after updating to at least to firmware 1.4.
This mode is designed for workflows that require UHD video capture, NDI output and ISO recording while retaining the RØDECaster Video's full audio mixer functionality.
What Does 4K Capture Mode Do?
In 4K Capture Mode, the RØDECaster Video supports UHD resolution at 3840 × 2160 and provides the following functionality:
- Accepts multiple UHD30 (Ultra High Definition video at 30 FPS) inputs via HDMI
- Outputs UHD inputs as NDI streams
- Records ISO tracks to external USB storage
- Retains full audio mixer functionality
Full HD Capture Mode
A Full HD Capture mode is also available for users who want the flexibility of multiple NDI outputs while maintaining 1080p video feeds at 60fps.
4K Capture Mode and Full HD Capture Mode are separate operating modes designed to provide increased capture and distribution performance.
Features Available in Capture Modes
Both capture modes provide simple switching via HDMI, primarily for monitoring purposes.
Please note: To achieve this performance, several advanced RØDECaster Video features are disabled while using these capture modes.
The following features are unavailable:
- Keying
- Media and graphic playback
- Transitions
- Direct live streaming using RTMP or SRT
- Multi camera scenes
RØDECaster Sync Compatibility
Alongside 4K Capture Mode, firmware 1.4 also introduces full RØDECaster Sync compatibility with the RØDECaster Video and RØDECaster Video S.
This brings RØDECaster Sync integration to the entire current generation RØDECaster family.
