When you first receive the RØDECaster Video Core, the unit is ready to use out of the box. However, we recommend completing the steps below before recording to ensure the best performance and access to the latest features.
Update the firmware
- Connect the RØDECaster Video Core to a Mac or PC and update it using the RØDECaster App.
- This ensures the latest features, improvements, and fixes are installed.
- Firmware updates can be performed via the RØDECaster App.

Use Setup RØDECaster Sync with other RØDECaster devices
- You can use a RØDECaster Pro II or Duo to send audio directly to the RØDECaster Video Core, ensuring smooth audio control and integration.

Use a compatible SSD for recording
The RØDECaster Video Core supports external SSDs and other USB mass-storage devices connected via USB 3, allowing you to record high-quality video and audio directly to the drive.
- Your drive must be formatted using the exFAT file system.
Note: We recommend using an SSD with write speeds capable of handling simultaneous audio and video recording.
