This article will show you how to set up the Auto Switching feature on your new RØDECaster Video or RØDECaster Video S. Whether you're experienced or just starting out, this feature can simplify your video productions.
Auto Switching is a game changer, especially if you don’t have a dedicated switch operator. It automatically changes camera angles based on who is speaking, giving you a hands-free, professional look.
This feature is perfect for video podcasts, panel shows, interviews, or any setup with multiple cameras and microphones.
-
To get started, connect your RØDECaster Video to your computer via USB 2.
- Open the RØDECaster App and go to the Auto Switching menu.
-
Follow the on-screen steps to select your video inputs and link them to the correct microphones, so the software knows which camera to show based on who is talking.
- For example, set Input 1 for your close-up and link it to your mic (Combo 1).
- Set the priority high so this angle appears more when you speak.
- Do the same for your guest’s camera (Input 2, Combo 2).
- For a wide shot (Input 3), link both mics and set a lower priority. The system will switch angles to keep things visually engaging, even if a shot has lower priority.
- Once configured, activate Auto Switching by pressing and holding the Auto button on your RØDECaster Video until it turns blue. To switch back to manual, press any input or scene button.
That’s it! With Auto Switching, your RØDECaster Video handles camera changes, letting you focus on your content.
