When you connect your RØDE Wireless transmitter (like the Wireless GO II, Wireless GO Gen 3, & Wireless PRO) to your computer, you'll notice that it acts like a read-only USB drive. You can copy your recordings from it, but you cannot upload new files or delete existing ones directly. This is an intentional design feature to protect your valuable audio.
This article explains why this is the case and how to correctly manage your files.
Why can't I upload files to the transmitter?
Your transmitter is a dedicated audio capture device, not a general storage drive. The internal memory is designed and formatted specifically for recording high-quality audio. This restriction prevents other file types from being accidentally uploaded, which could corrupt the memory or take up valuable recording space needed for your audio.
Why can't I delete files from the transmitter like a normal USB drive?
This "write protection" is a crucial safety feature to prevent accidental data loss. It stops you or your computer's operating system from deleting or altering your original recordings before you've had a chance to back them up. Think of it as a fail-safe to ensure the audio you've captured remains secure and untouched until you are ready to manage it.
How can I delete onboard recordings?
To delete your onboard recordings, you must use our companion app, RØDE Central.
- Important: Using RØDE Central will delete all recordings from the transmitter at once. It is not possible to delete individual files.
- Please ensure you have backed up any audio you wish to keep before clearing the device.

My Wireless TX isn't mounting to the computer.
If you can't mount the Wireless TX device to your computer, try these steps:
1. Connect the Wireless TX directly to your computer without USB hubs or extension cables, as they may cause connection or power issues.
2. If it still doesn't work, try a different computer to see if the problem is with your device or the original computer.
3. Use a different USB-C cable to rule out cable faults or incompatibility.
