The RØDECaster Video's multitrack recording feature offers significant advantages by enabling the recording of each input as an individual track, rather than a single stereo file.
This facilitates enhanced post-production control for audio professionals and content creators, allowing for precise adjustments to individual audio sources, and ultimately, a higher quality final product.
The RØDECaster Video is able to record your audio either as a single stereo audio file or as individual tracks for each input, this can be done when Multitrack Mode is enabled!
Enabling Multitrack Mode
To enable this on the RØDECaster Video, follow these steps:
- On the RØDECaster Video, go to Settings.
- Select Multitrack.
- Select either USB Audio or Rec Audio
- Toggle Multitrack to 'ON.'
To enable this using RØDE Central desktop app, follow these steps:
What is the difference between Multitrack for Recordings versus USB Audio?
- REC AUDIO: Enabling this will affect your recordings made to an SSD, via USB3.
- USB AUDIO: Enabling this will affect USB1 & USB2's preferences when using an external device, such as a computer.
Toggling Multitrack on also allows you to select “Pre-fader", “Bypass DSP” or “Post-fader".
- Pre-Fader: The position of the audio channel’s virtual fader will have no effect on the audio being recorded (i.e. even if faded down, it will still be recorded at unity gain).
- Bypass Processing: Identical to “Pre-Fader”, except none of the processing and effects will be applied to your recorded audio.
-
Post-Fader: The virtual fader’s position will affect the recorded audio – it will record quieter or louder depending on the fader’s position.
Configuring Your Channels
When multitrack mode has been enabled for USB, there will be a total of 20 channels available to use within DAWs or Recording software (10 stereo channels).
The main stereo "LIVE MIX" will be on inputs 1 and 2, with the remaining channels from 3 to 20 reflecting the current order and layout found in the audio mixer.
Here is an example of how the routing would be configured if using all 9 available faders. This can be changed in RODE Central or on the RØDECaster Video itself.
