If your Wireless Series IV receiver (RX) is not recognised by your mobile device, there are several steps you can take to identify and resolve the issue.
This article applies to compatible Series IV wireless products including:
Update Firmware
- Ensure your Wireless RX is running the latest firmware
- Connect the RX to a computer and open the RØDE Central desktop app
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete any available updates
Please note: Firmware updates can improve compatibility and resolve mobile device recognition issues.
RØDE Central: You can download the latest RØDE Central desktop app from here.
Check Your Cable
- For Lightning iPhones, use an MFi-certified cable or adapter
- For USB-C devices (Android / iPhone 15 and newer), test another USB-C cable
- Ensure the cable supports data transfer, not just charging
Important: Charge-only USB-C cables cannot transmit audio or data and will prevent the Wireless RX from being recognised.
Recommended cables include:
Test with the RØDE Central Mobile App
- Download and open the RØDE Central mobile app
- Check if the Wireless RX appears in the device list
- If detected, the hardware is functioning correctly
- If not detected, the issue may be related to the cable or connection method
Using the SC7 Cable (3.5mm TRRS)
You can connect your Wireless RX using the SC7 3.5mm TRRS cable for analogue audio connections.
- This is an analogue-only connection
- RØDE mobile apps will not recognise the RX when using an SC7 cable
- Devices without a 3.5mm port will require an adapter
- Lightning iPhone: Use an official Apple Lightning to 3.5mm adapter
- USB-C Android: Use a compatible USB-C to 3.5mm adapter that supports audio input
