Network Video Inputs and Output
The RØDECaster Video supports Network Device Interface (NDI) to use network video sources as inputs and also send out it’s own NDI video stream.
NDI Inputs
There are 4 network input sources available to connect cameras or other devices. This can be done on the hardware by using the Inspect mode > select an input button > select the device type > use the encoder to scroll down and select one of the Network options > A list of NDI devices on your network will be displayed as options to assign to the button.
This process is also available in the RØDECaster app Scene Builder under Input Source.
NDI Output
The NDI output can be enabled to cast a video stream over the local network. This allows the RØDECaster Video to appear as an input option to other devices, such as software or hardware decoders. This can be enabled on the hardware by selecting Settings > Video > NDI > Select the feed you would like to cast.

This can also be enabled by using the RØDECaster app by selecting Device Configuration > Video > Outputs > select an option from the NDI drop-down.
Overlay Button
The Overlay button provides access to the images you have loaded onto your microSD card and assigned to an Overlay button, or use an input source as an overlay. When pressed, the Overlay button will light blue and Scene Buttons (A – G) will alter their function to represent assigned graphic overlays. Any buttons that have graphic overlays assigned to them will be lit blue, and those with no assignments will be unlit.
Input sources can now be assigned to an overlay button. This allows the input to be positioned and framed over the top of other inputs, scenes, and media. This is particularly powerful when using a keyed input source such as dynamic graphics with a luma key, or creating a picture-in-picture with a chroma key.
Keying Button
The Keying button automatically applies a chroma key (green screen or blue screen) or a luma key to the Preview feed in Studio mode, or the Program feed in Instant mode, allowing you to place your subject in front of images, videos, and even other input sources.
Video Switching and Auto Switching
Auto Switching with a RØDECaster Pro II or DUO
The auto switching can be linked to channels on the RØDECaster Pro II or DUO. Connect the RØDECaster Pro II / DUO USB 2 port to the RØDECaster Video USB 4 or 5 ports.
This is the same processes for passing audio between devices. Once connected, the RØDECaster Pro II / DUO audio channels will appear as options when linking audio.
You can distinguish inputs from your RØDECaster Pro II and the RØDECaster Video with the gray line before the input. These are reserved for the inputs from your RØDECaster Pro II.
Minor quality of life updates!
- Separate output audio mixes for HDMI A, HDMI B and NDI.
- Device names will change to include the unit's serial number. RCV-JFXXXXXX. However, you can still change the name of your device as you please
- You can now Link and Unlink the USB channels, meaning if you connect a Wireless device via USB, you can split the stereo channel into two mono channels, for independent control.
- Now, when muting a fader, this signal will still display but in grey, so you can still see the audio coming into that channel.
