If you're looking to utilise your smartphone or tablet for both audio and video, there are several important considerations to keep in mind. The best solution is to use an AV adapter that can convert the output from your mobile device—whether it’s a USB-C or Lightning connector—into an HDMI format.
To connect a mobile device to the RØDECaster Video, we'd suggest using the Apple's USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, which is a reliable and tested option. However, there are numerous other adapters available on the market that offer similar quality and functionality, so you have plenty of choices to find one that suits your needs.
- As long as your mobile device is capable of outputting a signal via HDMI at a resolution of 1080p, you can connect it to any of the four HDMI inputs on the RØDECaster Video.
Additionally, keep in mind that most mobile devices typically do not permit the output of the camera feed through the default camera application. To achieve a clean video feed via HDMI, it is recommended that you utilize a third-party application designed for this purpose.
Many professional filmmaking applications offer settings that enable you to output a clean video feed, and they also provide the option to monitor audio through the HDMI connection. This setup can significantly enhance the quality of your video production.
