When you first get your hands on the Wireless Micro, you may be eager to start recording right away. While it is indeed functional straight out of the box, we highly recommend taking a few preliminary steps to enhance your experience and fully unlock the potential of the Wireless Micro.
Update the Firmware
One of the first things you should do is update the firmware of the Wireless Micro. This is a crucial step that can significantly improve the performance of your device.
- To accomplish this, you will need to download the RØDE Central app on your Computer (Windows, Mac) or Mobile Device (iOS, Android).
- Once you've installed the app and connected your Wireless Micro receiver, the app will prompt you to update the firmware.
- Keeping your firmware up to date allows you to access the latest features and improvements that RØDE has to offer, ensuring that your device operates at its best.
Customise the Settings
The Wireless Micro is equipped with two transmitters, which can be incredibly useful in various recording scenarios. However, there may be times when you only need to use one transmitter. In such cases, you can adjust the audio signal from split to merged within the app.
- This adjustment will help you achieve the appropriate audio signal for your specific recording needs, providing you with greater control over your audio output.
Try the RØDE Capture App
If you are an iOS user, you can further enhance your experience by using the RØDE Capture app. This app is designed for seamless integration with the Wireless Micro, allowing you to adjust audio settings directly from the app while simultaneously recording video content.
- With the RØDE Capture app, you can easily manage your recordings and ensure that your audio settings are optimised for the best possible results.
- The combination of the Wireless Micro and the RØDE Capture app creates a powerful tool set for anyone looking to produce high-quality audio and video content.
Connect to the Camera Receiver
When using your Wireless Micro, you may encounter situations which require a 3.5mm audio output, such as connecting to mixers and cameras. This can be accomplished by connecting your Transmitters to the Wireless Micro Camera Receiver.
To connect your Transmitters to the Camera Receiver, you will need to:
- Power the adapter on by holding the button on the top of the unit. Once powered on, you should see a solid green LED indicating the device is ready to pair.
- Leave the rest of the kit in its case so it doesn't accidentally pair to the USB/Lightning Receiver.
- Enter pairing mode on the Camera Receiver by holding the pairing button on the bottom right. You should see a sequence of blue LEDs indicating it is now in pairing mode.
- While it is pairing, remove the Transmitters from the case, one at a time. They should automatically pair to the Receiver after being removed.
- If successfully paired, you should now see a solid green LED bar on the Camera Receiver, and the green LEDs on your Wireless Micro Transmitters should also be solid.
- If any are still blinking, perform the steps again until both Transmitters pair.
