If your RØDECaster Video is not recognising a USB drive, there are a few common causes to check. Ensuring the drive is connected to the correct port, avoiding unsupported adaptors, and using the correct file system will resolve most issues.
Connect the USB Drive to the Correct Port
The RØDECaster Video has a dedicated USB C storage port, identified by the USB symbol. USB drives must be connected to this port to be recognised.
Please note: Connecting a USB drive to any other USB C port on the RØDECaster Video will not allow it to be recognised.
Avoid USB Adaptors and Hubs
For the best compatibility, connect your USB drive directly to the USB storage port.
Please note: USB A to USB C adaptors and USB hubs can cause compatibility issues that may prevent the RØDECaster Video from recognising the drive.
Format the USB Drive as exFAT
The RØDECaster Video supports USB drives formatted using the exFAT file system.
- Connect the USB drive to your computer.
- Back up any important files, as formatting will erase all data.
- Format the drive using the exFAT file system.
- Safely eject the drive and reconnect it to the RØDECaster Video.
Tip: If your USB drive is currently formatted as FAT32, NTFS or another file system, reformatting it as exFAT will allow it to be used with the RØDECaster Video.
