If your microphone is not functioning properly with the AI-1, here are some helpful tips to ensure the correct settings:
Check your Sample Rate Settings
- Ensure that the input and output sample rates in the Sound settings on your Windows computer are set to the same value (we suggest 24-bit/96,000Hz).
1. Open your Sound settings.
2. Choose 'Playback'
3. Select the 'RODE AI-1'.
4. Right-click on the AI-1 and choose 'Properties'.
5. Go to the Advanced tab and select your desired sample rate settings.
6. Repeat the same process in the Recording section and ensure the settings match.
Enabling Phantom Power
- Enable phantom power if you are using a condenser microphone that requires +48V. To do this, simply press the left dial inward, and you will notice a red LED below the P48 indicating that the Phantom power is now activated.
Checking the microphone with Direct Monitoring
- Activate direct monitoring on the AI-1 to enable live listening of the microphone. Press the right dial inward, and a white LED under the headphone icon will appear.
Direct monitoring allows you to hear the microphone audio directly to headphones, without relying on any recording software or DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) on your computer. If you can hear the audio from the microphone during direct monitoring, it suggests that the issue may lie with your recording software or DAW settings.
