Experiencing an echo even with zero-latency monitoring mode activated can be quite frustrating, especially when you're trying to achieve a clean recording. If you're using the NT-USB Mini and still hearing an echo, the solution lies in your recording software settings.
Imagine you are recording a vocal track for a song. Your recording software, or DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), already contains the other parts of the song such as drums, guitar, and bass. You've created a new track for the vocals and assigned the NT-USB Mini to this track. By default, your DAW might be sending the microphone output back to your headphones along with the rest of the mix. This results in you hearing both the zero-latency audio from the mic and a delayed version of your voice, causing an echo or doubling effect.
To eliminate this echo, you should mute the output of your vocal track in the recording software while you're recording. This adjustment ensures that you hear the complete mix of the song in your headphones, minus your voice, along with the zero-latency monitor output of your voice. This setup provides a more natural and echo-free recording experience.
After you have finished recording, remember to unmute the vocal track so you can hear your voice in the mix. Additionally, deactivate the zero-latency monitoring mode to prevent any room sounds from being picked up by the mic and sent to your headphones, which could be distracting during the editing process. Following these steps will help you achieve a clearer and more professional recording.
