Some RØDE microphones, such as the PodMic USB and NT1 5th Generation, feature both USB and XLR connectivity. If your microphone is connected via XLR and is not appearing in RØDE software, this is expected behaviour.
XLR Is an Analogue Connection
The XLR output on the PodMic USB and NT1 5th Generation is a traditional analogue microphone connection. Unlike USB, XLR does not transmit digital device information, settings, or metadata to a computer.
Because of this, RØDE software applications cannot detect the microphone when it is connected via XLR.
Using RØDE Software
To access features available within RØDE software, the microphone must be connected directly to your computer via USB.
When connected via USB, the microphone can be recognised by supported applications, including:
- RØDE Central
- RØDE Connect
- UNIFY
Connecting via USB provides access to device configuration, firmware updates, and additional processing features depending on the microphone model.
