The Wireless Micro Camera Receiver (CRX) is a specialised device designed for the Wireless Micro system. It was created to offer a specific connection that the system's standard receiver does not have: a 3.5mm analogue output for cameras, yet also has the ability to output to USB-C through the included cables.
While the standard Wireless Micro receiver connects digitally, the CRX enables users who need to plug their Wireless Micro directly into a camera's microphone input.
This makes it a crucial tool for filmmakers and videographers using the Wireless Micro system.
Core Functionality and Connections
The primary function of the CRX is to receive audio signals from up to two separate Wireless Micro TX (transmitters) at once. Its key feature is its dual-output capability, providing both digital and analogue connection options.
- Analog 3.5mm TRS Output: This is the main feature of the CRX. It allows you to send audio directly to the microphone input jack found on most DSLR, mirrorless, and cinema cameras.
- Digital USB-C Output: It also retains a USB-C connection for a direct digital audio feed to devices like computers, or smartphones and tablets running iOS 14 / Android 11 or later.
- Plug-in Power: The Wireless Micro Camera Receiver also features plug-in power detection for its 3.5mm and USB-C ports. By default, the device will automatically power on or off when the connected device/camera it’s connected to also powers on or off.
Performance and Technical Specifications
The CRX is built to provide reliable performance for video production.
- Transmission Range: It operates with a line-of-sight range of over 100 metres from the transmitter.
- Audio Quality: The receiver captures audio at a sample rate of 48 kHz and a bit depth of 24-bit.
- Battery and Power: The internal 350 mAh battery provides up to 18 hours of continuous operation. It requires a 5V/0.1A power source for charging, which takes approximately 2 hours to complete.
