You may notice that onboard recordings on your Wireless transmitter (TX) sound quieter than audio recorded via the receiver (RX). This is expected behaviour.
Why This Happens
- The camera preamp boosts the signal coming from the receiver (RX), increasing the recorded volume
- The transmitter (TX) records at a fixed internal level, which is not affected by RX gain settings
This means adjusting the RX gain will only change the output sent to your camera — it will not affect the onboard recordings stored on the transmitter.
Best Practice
- Set your RX gain to suit your camera input level
- Use onboard recordings as a clean backup track
- Monitor audio with headphones where possible
For the most consistent results, balance your levels at the source and confirm your recording levels before capturing audio.
