The Interview PRO offers three modes of Gain Assist to enhance audio quality:
Modes:
- Mode 1 (Auto): In this mode, the audio is compressed and limited to maintain a consistent level without any peaking. This ensures a smooth and balanced sound output.
- Mode 2 (Dynamic): Gain Assist, also known as Automatic Gain Control (AGC), adjusts the overall dynamic range of the audio output based on changes in the input level. A gain of approximately 23dB is initially applied, and the AGC adjusts this gain up or down to compensate for high or low input levels. This helps to maintain a consistent audio level even when the input varies.
- Off: In this mode, a fixed level of gain is applied to the microphone input at 20dB. This means that the audio level remains constant without any automatic adjustments.
- When using the Off mode, users have the option to manually control the input gain level. This allows them to adjust the level of each individual microphone channel according to their preferences or specific recording requirements.
The default setting for the Interview PRO is Mode 1 (Auto), which provides automatic compression and limiting for consistent audio levels.
It's important to note that the full functionality of Gain Assist can only be utilized with the Wireless PRO receiver. However, the Interview PRO can be set up via RØDE Central to work with any RØDE Wireless Series IV receiver, such as the Wireless GO II and Wireless ME receivers.
Please note: GainAssist does not apply to the on-board recordings made by the Interview PRO.
Manual Input Gain Adjustment
- When the GainAssist Mode is set to "Off," users have the flexibility to manually adjust the gain input level for each individual microphone channel.
- The adjustment scale ranges from 0 to 30dB, with the default level set at 20dB. This allows users to either boost or reduce the input level in one dB increments, providing precise control over the audio gain.
