When you first receive the AI-1, while you can use the unit out of the box, we'd suggest a couple of things to perform with the kit before using it for recording to maximize the potential of the AI-1.
- Make sure you update the firmware of the AI-1 using the RØDE Central desktop app.
RØDE Central: You can download the latest RØDE Central desktop app from here.
- If you're using a studio condenser microphone, such as the NT1, make sure to enable Phantom Power (P48).
- This ensures the condenser microphone is being powered correctly. To enable phantom power, press the left dial inwards and a red P48 LED will illuminate.
- Download the ASIO drivers if you're using a Windows computer.
- To get the best out of the AI-1, we'd recommend using the AI-1 ASIO drivers when using a DAW.

- You can enable microphone monitoring on the AI-1 with headphones connected.
- This is great for listening to the microphone levels in real-time before it reaches the recording software or DAW.
- You can enable direct monitoring by pressing the right dial inwards and the direct monitoring LED will turn on.
