Some people encounter issues when attempting to connect their Lavalier range of microphones to their smartphones or computers/laptops using the 3.5mm connector. The primary reason for this problem lies in the difference between TRS and TRRS connectors.
TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) cables have three contact points and are typically designed for devices like cameras and audio recorders. On the other hand, TRRS (Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve) connectors have four contact points and are generally used for smartphones, tablets, and laptops. This discrepancy means that a TRS cable will not establish a proper connection with devices that require a TRRS input, leading to audio issues or complete non-functionality.
To resolve this, you can use a SC4 TRS to TRRS adapter, which will convert the TRS connector into a TRRS one, making it compatible with your smart device.
